THE PURPOSE OF THE "SYMBOLISMS IN GENESIS" ARTICLE |
||
There are a number of aims in the way Symbolisms in Genesis is written. One of them is to show the highly specific nature of Bible prophecy written through the hand of Moses. Even the casual reader should be able to see that none of these scriptures are general in nature. That is, none of them could fit any number of different situations that might arise in the future, but that the same few specific future events are portrayed symbolically and otherwise over and over again. The most obvious being Gods plan to reconcile mankind back to himself and his government through the death of his son and that the world in Gods eyes is divided between two groups of people. Those who are reconciled back to him and those who are not.Another point to be made in Symbolisms in Genesis seems to be a great mystery amongst the majority of those who are students of the Word of God; and that is the role of the people of Israel in Gods plan. I call it a mystery not because the majority of those who profess to be Christians admit to not understanding the subject but because the majority are strident in their dogma on this subject when they are so manifestly ignorant of it. What can be obviously inferred in these symbolisms is that the plan of God was not for the people of Israel but for the whole world, the people of Israel being a tool in Gods hands to bring this plan to pass. Not that the physical descendants of Abraham are any less objects of his grace than any other race of peoples. God did not choose them so that he could bring them salvation first or above any other peoples but he choose them as a means to bring his salvation into the earth. The practicality of this is stunning in retrospect, one family with one language with one purpose; to bring the written and living Word of God into the earth to all peoples, languages and nations.This they did, both those who where obedient to this call from heaven and those who where disobedient. None escaped this call among them, theirlives are written in the pages of history as examples of the grace and wrath of the almighty. God gave them rituals, tasks, models and rites as symbolisms of the plans and purposes God has for all mankind. Their land, their circumstances and their cities are all symbolic examples of the of the will of God for all nations through Jesus Christ our Lord. |
