THE WIFE OF GOD IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

THE SCRIPTURES LISTED BELOW ARE ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY DEALING WITH NEW COVENANT AND NEW JERUSALEM SYMBOLISM IF VIEWED IN THEIR CONTEXT. THEY WILL REFER YOU BY WAY OF HYPERLINKS TO NEW TESTAMENT VERSES TO PROVE THAT.

This is by no means all of the Old Testament scriptures on this subject 

Isaiah 54

1. Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, says the Lord.  Galatians 4: 27
2. Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of your habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;
3. For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; thy seed shall inherit the gentiles and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. Galatians 3: 14-16
4. Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
5. For thy Maker is your husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
6. For the Lord hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.
7. For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.
8. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, says the Lord thy Redeemer.
9. For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
10. For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, says the Lord that has mercy on thee.  John 14: 27; Ephesians 2: 12-18
11. O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colors, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.  Revelation 21:18-21
12. And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.  Revelation 21: 18-21
13. And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children. Galatians 4: 26
14. In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.  
15. Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.  Revelation 2: 24-29; Luke 1: 67-79 
16. Behold, I have created the smith that blows the coals in the fire, and that brings forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.
17. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, says the Lord.  Matthew 16:15-20

Isaiah 60

1. Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. Matt. 5: 14-16
2. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.  Revelation 21: 23
3. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.  Rev. 21: 24
4. Lift up your eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.
5. Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and your heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the wealth of the Gentiles shall come unto thee. Revelation 21: 24-26
6. The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall show forth the praises of the Lord.
7. All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.
8. Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?
9. Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the Lord thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.
10. And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favor have I had mercy on thee.
11. Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the wealth of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought. Rev.21:24-26
12. For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted. Ephesians 1: 17-23; Revelation 2: 26-29;  Revelation 19: 6-21
13. The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.
14. The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee; The city of the Lord, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel. Revelation 3: 9
15. Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations. Luke 2: 9-14
16. Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the Lord am thy Savior and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
17. For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and your exactors righteousness.
18. Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise. Revelation 22: 14-15; 21: 26-27
19. The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. Rev. 21: 23
20. Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be your everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. Revelation 22: 5
21. Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. Revelation 19: 6-7; 2 Corinthians 5: 21;  1 John 3: 3-10 
22. A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the Lord will hasten it in his time. Matthew 13: 31-33.
