Biblical principle the way this article is using the term means voluntarily conducting ones personal behavior, relational behavior and national behavior according to the truth revealed in the Bible. Lets just start with a simple truth or two. Outside of specific circumstances like being an uncover officer fighting crime or saving innocents from persecution and the like, the Bible teaches, no commands, do not lie. Now immediately the secular humanists and multi-culturists will jump all over this and saying, "all cultures know lying or stealing  is wrong, all religions; this isn't special revelation  it is natural and doesn't prove the Bible is the Word of God." Well, that is true it does not. That isn't the issue though if that is your justification for the rejection of the Bible or Biblical principle as a whole. The issue is, if the vast majority of the worlds cultures and peoples know things like lying and stealing are wrong; why are they lying and stealing? Why, Mr. or Miss. atheist or professor multi-culturist do you lie and steal? You see you are entirely correct that of age people begin to learn right and wrong naturally and I'll add, even though it's not in many peoples selfish interests to acknowledge, begin to learn right and wrong spiritually. Even though they know better they still do these and many other wrongs.  In addition to this the unfortunate state of the entire race of mankind is thus: Even the right that they do is only done because of the connection of that good to ones own selfish interests, as an ultimate motive. That people know either intuitively (spiritually,)  through experience or education many things that are right and wrong is the Biblical teaching of: "The laws of nature and natures God."  This is not to be confused with "nature" as in the earth, plant life and animal kingdoms.  Nature used here means the unalterable spiritual\physical design of human beings. How they function.  The laws of nature are the things people must choose and do that are perfectly fitted to the way they were created. Just as the nature of human beings is unalterable so to are those laws that govern, or are fitted, to that nature. Conduct in accordance with those laws bring both natural and divine consequences that are good. Walking in violation of those laws bring negative consequences both to the individual and society at large and ultimately divine consequences for the wrong that was done. Even a casual observance of the state of the world reveals that the nations who have accepted varying degree's of Biblical principle as the way they govern their personal and national affairs reveals that they are better off than those who do not. In fact it is pretty easy to see that to the degree that they conduct themselves according to the laws of nature and natures God is the degree to which they quite naturally benefit personally and nationally. It is also quite evident that to the degree they reject or are ignorant of Biblical principle is the degree that those nations and their people suffer the natural consequences.

      There is something further that needs to be added to this. Both because so few Christians know it and it needs to be common knowledge and further, to answer another objection of the secularist. It's this: The role special Revelation, meaning, the Bible plays in this. The secularist,  in their quest to prove that religion has nothing to do with the the light the western world now has and insists it was his secularism that made it thus is wholly ignorant of the role the Word of God played in the creation of free peoples. Instead he might try to appropriate the argument about the laws of nature and natures God to say it has nothing to do with God, just nature. It was people ridding themselves of the idea of God and embracing secular "values" and nature that gave us these freedoms so many now enjoy. History shows different.  Outside of tribal government mankind never lived free of despotic powers reigning over him and enslaving them. This has always been due to the fact that mankind has been enslaved to their own desires and needs and that slavery was the vehicle for despotism to reign in perpetuity. Even after the Messiah came and began to free man from slavery to his own desire and need the despots that ruled over them remained in perpetuity. This never changed until one event in history.  The invention of the printing press and the ability to mass produce and distribute Bibles cheaply, efficiently and with a mission.  Even though this was illegal and could get one burned at the stake or worse, they began to be put them into the hands of the general public in northern Europe. The amazing thing, well maybe not so amazing since God is the author of the Bible is that this started happening right when the fourth empire of the four empires prophesied about in the Bible about fell. 1453 AD. Just as it prophesied, when that empire fell,  the world would begin to see a new age of freedom, prosperity as the knowledge of God through the Gospel began to spread throughout  the earth. In other words it was the Bible getting in the hands of the general public that gave people the power that they never had before to overthrow despotism.  A question for Professor Multiculturalist and Mr Atheist. If you look at the government of the United States from its colonial period up to the middle of the 20th century verses the governments that ruled over Europe before 1453 AD and many of them afterword's. What is difference is there between them in their official policies regarding the Bible? Since you are adamant that these are all Christians nations and represent "Christianity"?  Very simple answer. In the kingdoms and empires of Europe up until 1453 AD the Bible was not read by the general population.  Not only this, overall it was against the law especially once the printing press was invented. In the United States though all were encouraged to read it and all public and private schools and all  state and private universities used it as as basis is of all learning. The United States and the other nations that adopted a policy of encouraging its people to read the Word of God are responsible for all the freedom the world now enjoys and the prosperity that results from that freedom. On another note, if one wants to look at an example of  an atheistic revolution we can look at the French Revolution where the streets were filled with blood. That revolution, a revolution against any supposed spirituality including Bible reading, served as the basis of the civilization destroying Bolshevik (communist) revolutions since that time.

     Since the subject of this article is how nations are blessed, lets look at Biblical principle for human government. Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place to wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, said the Lord. 20 Therefore if your enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing you shall heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. 13:1 Let every soul be subject to the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whoever therefore resists the power, resists the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Will you then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and you shall have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he bears not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath on him that does evil. 5 Why you must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. 6 For for this cause pay you tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually on this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.
     Here we see Gods vision for human government. I say vision because even though human government in the days this was written did administer a little justice. for the most part it was despotic. As far as Biblical principle is concerned the first thing that should be pointed out is that God's plan for human government is that it be limited to certain tasks. The administration of justice through physical force being the main one. Notice the apostle says do not avenge yourself for wrong? Why? Because that is the properly left to human government. Shouldn't that be obvious? Government is not supposed to be colored by its own self interest or bias in administering justice whereas an individual will be. Another principle about human government can be seen in ancient Israel's republic before they chose the despotism of kings. Their government had no national police force, no standing army and almost no institutional organization that could use physical force. Their national welfare was wholly reliant on the knowledge and morality of the people which in turn was reliant on Gods Word and the ministry of their prophets and priests. There were two reasons for this as far as Biblical principle is concerned that are as applicable to day as it was back then. Number one and in case you are wondering, this is also how heavens government operates. If human beings have the knowledge and choose to conduct themselves according to the laws of nature and natures God then they have little need of a Government of force over them because they are doing what is right and beneficial to themselves and society as a whole. Government over them really only need exist to administer justice because of those few individuals who refuse to do right and because of the danger of other nations not so enlightened seeking the harm of an enlightened people.

     Number two, this is so important, and really a major dividing line between the international left and the Christian right in the conservative movement in the United States. Between those who seek to impose unlimited human government and those who seek to limit it to it's common sense and Biblical role. Because of the power of human government and the fact that it can be so easily be manipulated and used as a means to acquire unjust wealth and power over others for one selfish interests;  it has a magnetic attraction to not just immoral and ungodly men but to the criminal class of a culture. It is a horrendous historical and present reality that whole classes of people exist for nothing else but to put themselves at the helm of human government for their own selfish purposes and either do not care or are blind to the poverty, destruction and death their self centered policies will create. This is the reason the Biblical principle of the inherent dangers of unlimited government and sinful mankind need to be understood by all who want to remain free. The very idea of limited government is continually under assault by those who seek to grow the size and scope of government and its power for their own nefarious purposes. If a people truly understood this as a principle and recognized the inherent dangers of giving men greater power and access to wealth they did not create; then they would look at any attempts to grow the reach of government outside the bounds of wisdom and its naturally limited functions as evil and a means to eventually institute  despotic rule. They would automatically look at politicians who seek to calm everyone's fears about governments reach and power as tyrants at heart and totally unworthy of offices of trust. They would gravitate quite naturally to, and form political alliances, (parties) with those who seek to limit the size and scope of human government to what it is naturally able to do well and whose very existence is almost a necessary evil in the present world.  Even a causal observance of the political wars going on in the USA and many other nations can see this playing out where people enlightened by the Word of God seek to limit the scope and power of human government while people who are unenlightened by the Word through ignorance or rejection of it seek to grow the scope and power of human government.

     To go into the politics of this a little deeper.  An American president who's heart was firmly established in Biblical principle and a great opponent of socialism once stated, "The best form of welfare is a job." By this he meant that human government should keep to its task of the administration of justice and craft policies that naturally are the most conducive to people creating wealth and general prosperity. In short, as this article is arguing, policies that serve the New Jerusalem. That way the poor will not only be able to acquire jobs that lift them out of their poverty but also will have the opportunity, if they so choose to create wealth themselves. ie, no longer be the poor but the wealthy.  This is standard Biblical principle on all fronts. That people should work with their hands and minds to provide for themselves and their families. That they should have the opportunity to do this.  Just as the USA declaration of independence says: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed... Further, that if they refuse to work, (as a principle,) "then they should not eat." 2 Thessalonians 3:10 Meaning, that people who do not work, if they are able,  should not enjoy the benefits of those who do work. This boat, Biblically based capitalism, founded in the morality and teachings of the  Bible has lifted more people out of poverty and created more wealth for the masses than any thing the earth has ever seen or for that matter will see. This prophecy about the people of the Word to come (after the fall of the Roman Empire) says exactly what we have seen: Isaiah 61:4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. 7 For your shame you shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be to them. 60:17 For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make your officers peace, and your exactors righteousness. 65:21 And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. 22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and my elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. 23 They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.

     On the side of those who politically are rejecting Biblical priciple as the way we should govern our personal and national affairs.  In the last century we have  " democratic" and tottalatarian Socialism.  The "democratic" brand especially has that has turned the use of Christian language and virtue's into an art form of deception to grow the reach and scope, the height and depth of human government. They  purposely cause division between  people up based on race and class and then promise, using Christian lingo, to care for the poor using government programs to do so. They then proceed to take the wealth of others, mostly their political opponents through over taxation and regulation to give to the poor. This does two things. It creates a class of dependents who can always be counted upon to vote for the people promising the most "welfare." A proper socialist always promotes government programs, policies and regulations to create even more dependents. This is widely recognized by most conservative peoples as it is always a result of socialist policies. The greater the "socialism" the greater the poverty of the nation that has succumbed to it's deceit and the greater divide between the rich and the poor. What is less widely recognized concerns the bureaucracy that grows up to "serve" these poor. As the Biblical principle of sinful man and the inherent dangers of unlimited government clearly teach. The vast wealth that is now flowing through government to "help" the poor attracts those who want a piece of it and an outright criminal class. These monies begin to be siphoned off in myriads of different ways. Mainly through through the bureaucratic employees themselves with extravagant salaries and benefits but also through programs that benefit supporters of the socialist leaning politicians who are growing the government and creating the dependence. Soon the money intended for the "poor" is gobbled up before it even gets to them. Borrowing against future generations ensues. In the end if it all runs its full course without reversal the nation itself will become bankrupt as this is obviously unsustainable. This is evidenced to day by many nations. Economic wealth creating activity, the very thing the poor need most begins to succumb to the strain government is putting on it and one by one thriving industry and business dies. This chaos only seems to strengthen those who reject Biblical principle in their efforts to run human government for their own benefit.

     It would be good to notice one more Biblical principle in regards to the unsustainable debt nations are accruing and not planning on paying back which causes economic upheaval.  The Year of Jubilee in ancient Israel's Republic. That every fifty years all debt was to be wiped off the books. It seems if looking at the situation unrestrained borrowing and spending by governments to run unsustainable "social " programs is exactly, at least in principle, what the year of Jubilee was designed to prevent. To thwart sinful men for their own selfish purposes of gaining power and wealth; from borrowing (robbing) future generations of their wealth. It is very simple. If lenders know that by law they are not going to get paid back in five, ten or twenty years they will cease to lend. This basic Biblical principle in todays world would show up (in the USA) as say a constitutional amendment saying that government cannot borrow money to run its budget except in the case of declaration of war by congress. Again you can see who desires this, Christian conservatives who understand Biblical principle. You can see who adamantly opposes this. Those who reject Biblical principle mostly represented by the international leftists that run the Democrat party. Why international leftists rather than leftists? Because they have banded together internationally to oppose those in any nation who want to run their national affairs according to Biblical principle.

     Obviously this only touches the surface of many complex issues dealing with Biblical principle. Many other area's could be addressed but hopefully this will give the reader an idea of  the way the term Biblical principle is being used in these articles in Wordservice.org .
